Phones?????? I really don't like my phone, or any phones at&t sells (i need a phone with a keyboard b/c i text alot so my buttons break) and i was wondering if I could buy a phone from sprint or somewhere else and use the at&t service on it....Thanks!!!
What cell phones out there cost the same even in the middle of a plan? I have sprint and I found out the razor costs about $100 in the beginning of a plan but $300 in the middle of a plan. What cell phones just cost the same in the middle of a plan (no price limit)? I'm planning on buying a new cell phone but I'm in the middle of my 2-year plan, so I want a phone that will cost the same so I'm not really at a disadvantage.
What cell phones work best with a hearing aid? I have a BTE Phonak Zoom hearing aid, manufactured about 1999. And I need a cell phone but it needs to be hearing aid compatible. Also, we are REALLY looking to get a RAZR phone in particular. Does anyone know if RAZR phones work well with hearing aids and if so, what model?
How much of a discount do cell phone dealers get when buying phones? Just wondering how much of a discount do cell phone dealers get when buying phones... I'm debating on buying a new phone with a two year contract with T-Mobile OR finding a cell phone dealer-friend to buy a phone straight from the discounted price. Is the latter more worthy? Any input is greatly appreciated!
How do switch phone numbers with two different phones with verizon and they are on the same plan? My mom has an account for me, my dad, and her. Mom was the first one to start the account and then later on she added me and my dad. When she added me and my dad she bought us different phones than her's. Now she wants to switch phones with dad but she has to have the same number because she has a business that has her cell number as the contact number. So she wants to switch the numbers without having to pay verizon to do it for her. The reason why is because the verizon people said that we could do it ourselfs on the internet if we just go to the account and click on My ESN but we can't seem to find it. Does anybody have any idea as to how to switch the numbers?
How do I know what phones my sim card is compatible with? I have one of the old i530 yellow and black Motorola phones. I want to upgrade and was looking to buy a phone online. I still want to keep the "chirp" or whatever it's called feature. How will I know which phones are compatible with that card? I would like a camera phone, but am not sure what to buy.
What cell phones do you recommend me to buy? I'm planning to buy a cell phone to my 14 year old cousin, but I know almost nothing about them. I've heard today's cell phones take snapshots, video and access the internet. Which do you recommend me to buy and where? Thanks.
Why did mobile phones work on airplanes in the US on 11Sept01? Why did mobile phones work over NY and Pennsylvania on 11Sept01, the anniversary date of the end of the last Arab crusade of Europe, and not before or since? Technology for mobile phone use on planes is new and still being tested as the signal must be retransmitted, boosted, to reach a ground station. So why did they work there on that day and not on other days?
Where is the phone card on the Verizon Chocolate Cell Phones? I need to take my card out of my verizon chocolate phone. Like the information about my plan. It's hard to explain but how do i make it so if i where to sell my chocolate cell phone no one could use my cell phone plan or know any of my information? On cingular phones there is that little card under the battery, do they have that on verizon phones?
What are good cell phones that allow you to use the phone as a modem on your pc? I have the LG Fusic from Sprint right now but we are about to be done with Sprint. We are basically going to choose our next cell phone carrier based on the phone we can get. Having the phone as a modem is the most important feature to us. But trying to figure out what all phones have that feature is like pulling teeth! Every carrier calls it something different, and I'm not sure if certain things mean what I think they mean so on and so forth.
Do cell phone companies make phones that use a universal battery? I recently purchased a nice Motorrizr which i returned because it is 2 years old, and I dont want to be told that that particular battery is no longer made and you have to buy a new phone. You would think that they would make one battery that fits alot of phones so there is always a fresh supply of newly made batteries for those phones. It probably is a marketing strategy. Thanks for all info.
What cordless phones work properly with a digital phone line? We have just subscribed to digital phone service but now our caller id/call display won't work. When I looked it up on the manufacturers website (Phillips) it says these phones won't work with a digital provider. Any suggestions for which phones do work completely with a digital line? Thanks! Yes, I made sure we have caller ID service... and these phones are "digital" but like you said, it musn't be a guarantee as it just doesn't work on them.
What cell phones can I use with Verizon International Service? Verizon Wireless's website says I can purchase one of these phones for use with their service.. Nokia 6021 Nokia 2610 Nokia 2650 (flip phone) it also says this.. Already have an international phone? You can take full advantage of Global Rental’s worldwide coverage, by purchasing a SIM card for $10. What phones would I be able to get if I were to take that option? I will be going to France, Spain, Italy, Morocco, and the Caribbean. I also may be going to Australia. I don't yet have a phone but am going to buy one, would I be able to buy a Verizon sim card, keep my current verizon number, and be able to use this new phone in the US as well? Can I buy any unlocked cdma/gsm phone? which ones are compatible?
How do i block cell phones from calling my house phone? I keep getting prank calls from 3 cell phones and they call at all hours of the night and day. Plz help anyone i would be very thankful to you. Thank you for taking the time to read my question. I keep getting prank calls from 3 cell phones and they call at all hours of the night and day. Is there a system that can block them without them knowing that they are blocked? I've heard of companies that will let the caller know that they are on a blocked list from this phone. Plz help anyone i would be very thankful to you. Thank you for taking the time to read my question.
How do I get my Samsung t429 phone to pair with other PHONES via bluetooth? T-Mobile said it could only pair with bluetooth headsets and handsfree and said it did not have the capability to pair with other phones via bluetooth. Is there any secret codes or any way I can get it to pair with other phones? BTW: I've already asked T-Mobile and they won't tell me anything because they said it is illegal to "share" music and they would be breaking the law.
What cell phones can work with Cingular? I don't know much about this so I need help. If my friend wants to cell me his T-Mobile cell phone, can it work with Cingular if I unlock it at some kind of phone repair shop? Verizon wouldn't work because they use CDMA, right? But what other companies' phones can work with Cingular? And how much does it cost to unlock a phone?
What are the good music phones out in the market today? I lost my Nokia N80. Obviously, now I have to get a new phone. I prefer music phones. I've looked into some like N 5310, N 5610, SE 850i and the likes. But I need help in deciding which phone is the best. I know there are pros and cons that comes with each phone but any phone must be better than my old N80. HELP! --and thanks üü
How to cook popcorn using mobile phones? I seen on You Tube that you can pop popcorn using 3 to 4 mobile phones. I have tried it and it never popped. Any suggestions on how you do it? Are you supposed to use certain phones?
What is the rule on personal cell phones in your office? I work in a small office and we all keep our personal cell phones on all day and answer them when we get a call. I am just wondering what the rest of the world is doing now that cell phones are so popular. Thanks for your answers! Have a great day!
Can you renew your cell phone plan and get the discounts on phones? My contract ends in November, and I am going to switch phones and buy a news one. If I want to change phones after my contract expires, do I still get the rebates and discounts on the phones? I want the Samsung Blackjack that on Cingular's Website is $99 (mail in rebate, new 2-year contract, and online special price). Will I get the same price since I'll be renewing my contract? (even though it isn't new?)
How often do lost cell phones get back to their owners? I lost my phone a few days ago. Both the holster and phone are gone. Do service providers have a service that finders can get phones back to the owner? Who makes a good holster that can keep the phone with the holster and the holster on you?
How do I change chips between cell phones? I dropped my Motorola V260 (really hard, against a wall). The phone still works; it can receive phone calls and dial out. But the screen doesn't work. I have another unit - the same model. It is inactive. Can I switch chips on the phones, so that the inactive (operable) phone becomes my active phone, with all the data ported over?
What did the world do before cell phones? I walk down the street. At least every other person is on a cell phone. Those that aren't, have one clipped on their waist. I walk through the mall, airport, restaurants, etc. People are all on the cell phones. You pull up next to another car at a stop light and turn to see the driver.......on his or her cell phone. Did we really miss this many phone calls prior to cell phones being invented? Or are we as a society totally overcommunicating now that we have them?
How do I keep highspeed access, but drop home phone, and get two cell phones instead? I currently have highspeed access and home phone service through AT&T/SBC. I got rid of both cell phones about a year ago. I've heard of people getting rid of their regular home phone, and getting cell phones instead, and keeping high speed access, which is what I want to do. How do I do this? I'm not getting a very straightforward answer from AT&T - they told me I'd still have to keep my home phone to keep internet access, but I could get the minimum phone package.
Do you know a lot about how cell phones work? Ever experience that weird noise coming through your car speakers right before your cell phone is going to ring? (your cell phone needs to be resting close to the radio console) What causes that? Also, I sleep with my cell phone right above my head, and I've noticed that I always wake up seconds before my phone rings. This happens to me constantly and at all different times. Do cell phones trasmit some kind of radiation or electromagnetic waves just before a call comes through and is that what's waking me? Is it normal for "it" to be causing me to wake like that?
What is the cheapest way to talk on cell phones between US and Canada and Vise-Versa ? We live in Pennsylvania and our daughter lives in Ontario, Canada. We would like to talk with our daughter on a weekly basis but we don't want to have to pay alot of money with a monthly contract(s) (unless necessary ). Any suggestions, ideas, comments. We live in Pennsylvania - USA Our daughter lives in Ontario - Canada We are trying to find away ( if possible ) around having to pay roaming charges? Any cell phones users that do calls between US / Canada and vise-versa and have 1st hand experience in this area would be appreciated. Thanks very much. What about programming only our telephone # into the phone so she can only call us - vise-versa ?
What are the best selling cell phones for all the major wireless carriers in the last 2 years? I am seeking information for a study regarding the top selling cell phones of the last 18 months. I am trying to find a list that shows the top 5 or 6 best selling mobile devices (including smartphones, PDA's, etc.) for each of the major carriers. (Verizon, AT&T / Cingular, Sprint / Nextel, Alltel Wireless, T-Mobile). I am hoping to be able to go back to January 2006 with this information if possible. Thanks!
Do you think talking on cell phones while driving should be a ticketed offense? I have a bumber sticker that says *Hang up the damb phone and drive* I hate driving and having another driver anywhere near me when I see they're on the phone. I know their full attention is NOT on the road and whats around them! Insurance companys should ask people if theu use their cell phones in their car and charge extra if they do. I know NUMEROUS people that have had accidents while driving and talking on their phone.
What verizon phones have the quietest vibration? I need to get a new phone because mine broke, but i need to be able to text in class. and some phones are extremely loud even when on vibrate. That is why i need to know which ones are good for this type of thing and which ones vibrate quietly.
Why should cell phones be ban while driving? It is easy to notice people talking or their phones. Not just talking on cell phones can cause accidents. Can see people fumbling for a Cd's or turn the radio also attending to their little ones could cause an accident.
How do charities make use of old cell phones? When changing my cell phone contract, I was required to get a new phone. I was told that my old phone would not work with my new contract and that in a couple of days it would turn into a paperweight. Several charities accept old cell phones as donations and somehow they turn them into working phones again. Apparently, the general public cannot do this, but the charities can. Can anyone tell me how they accomplish this "miracle"?
What do the megahertz and gigahertz mean when referring to cordless phones? My wife and I are looking at getting a new cordless phone. We want a good one, but we're unfamiliar with the meaning behind mega/gigahertz. I know it's a measurement of power, but what does it get you by having more? Is it more range, clearer signal, both, or something else? Also, what are the advantages of digital cordless phones?
What are some new cell phones comming out sometime in october? We have sprint right and our contract is over in october. Right now im interested in the New Lg chocolate from verizon. Is that a good phone. I like it because it has a music player and a camera and camcorder and its only $99. Anyway is there any site that shows future phones?

phones that interfere with radio frequency? Just recently, I was thinking about getting a long range phone for my house since cell phones cost too much and there are too many fees associated with cell phones. When I did some surfing online, I found some phones that you could hook up to your existing phone line. However, those phones typically came from some distributor in China or some other foreign country. How do I know if those phones will work on my line? I live in the United States and I currently have verizon. What do I need to know before I actually buy one of those phones. I tried to find this information online but I was unable to find it anywhere. Someone suggested a cordless phone company, but I'm not looking for an ordinary cordless phone. I want a cordless phone that I can use several kilometers away and still make the calls on my phone line at home. Here is one such phone that I found. http://www.telephonemagic.com/voyager-lo... Someone told me that these kinds of phones are illegal, but I don't give a hoot. All I want to know is if they will work in a standard phone outlet. If not, what kind of installation do they require? And is there any way that the phone compay/government can find out?
Can cell phones cook your brain like cell phones can cook eggs? Many organizations including the cell phone industry often downplay the risk of cell phone radiation to the brain. Results from short-term studies were used to convince consumers that use of a cell phone is not associated with brain tumors or cancer, which only develop decades after exposure. To be fair, no one knows exactly how much harm a cell phone can do to a person. Howe Recently, new media has reported a study showing the radiation from cell phones is so full of energy they can be used to cook eggs. In the experiment, researchers placed one egg in a porcelain cup (because it is easy to conduct heat), and put one cell phone on one side and another cell phone on the other. The researchers then called from one cell phone to another and kept the cell phones on after connecting. During the first 15 minutes, nothing changed. After 25 minutes, however, the egg shell started to become hot and at 40 minutes, the surface of the egg became hard and bristled. Researchers found the protein in the egg had become solid although the egg yolk was still in liquid form. After 65 minutes, the whole egg was well cooked. The study shows how scary cell phone radiation is. People should try to avoid use of cell phones. Although so far no one has proved the radiation from cell phones can cause something clinically significant. By the same token, there has been no one who can disprove the existence of such a risk. Children should be forbidden from cell phone use because they still grow their brains and are particularly vulnerable to radiation
If cell phones don’t work on an airplane (without cell phone boosters) then how…? If cell phones don’t work on an airplane then how did 9/11 victims call loved ones with their cell phones? I recently watched “Loose Change 2nd Edition”, and there was this scientist guy who tested cell phones up in the air and their success rate during year 2000 to see if he had a signal. Lets just say it failed miserably to call out or accept calls. Then in 2004 (after 9/11) Boeing installed a cell phone booster on top of their airplane so that people could use their cell phones. Why do this if apparently the cell phone calls to family members came in so clearly during the 9/11 tragedy? I wanted to find out for my self who was telling the truth. So I turned on my cell phone, and guess what. One the plane that I was on did not crash from having it on (even though I was NOT going to make a call, but just having it ON I swear doesn’t hurt anything, just like I have NEVER turned off my CD or MP3 players ALL M Y LIFE and the plane flies just fine). So when I was on the ground I had all my bars (a good signal). However, once up in the air I has NO signal at all! I didn’t get a bar back till about half a mile up in the air. So unless someone called from their cell phone in the last 15 seconds, I don’t see how they could have had a two minuet conversation with people or an answer machine. Now I know big fancy airplanes have phones in the seats, but apparently most of the people didn’t use these phones to call people, they used their own cell phones. Which is Impossible, even a science dude proved that (I doubt it was a miracle either). I found “Loose Change” was telling the truth. Link to “Loose Change”: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7167151489146455453&q=Loose+Change+2nd&hl=en If you don’t feel like watching the whole thing just fast forward to the time of “1:08:33”. Or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loose_Change_(video) By the way there is voice mimicking software that is very accurate just to let people know. I saw that on the Discover Channel about 9 years ago! I’m not saying there wasn’t terrorists, I’m just saying the cell phone thing doesn’t make sense. It’s an inconsistency, which may lead one to wonder about other things. My concern is why would someone make up the phone calls, if they can’t/couldn’t happen? So how did victims really call their loved ones?
Mobile phones and their networks - what sim works with what phone? I'm on a contract with vodafone at the moment, and want to keep this sim if possible. I am looking into buying a new phone though, and wondered if I was restricted to phones which only provide vodafone sim cards? If I were to get a pay as you go phone on, say virgin mobile, would my vodafone sim work with that phone? - I dont like the phones available with vodafone at the moment lol. I remember a while ago I put a sim from another network into an orange mobile phone (that was a nokia) and that worked, how can I tell what model of phone my vodafone sim will work in? I quite like some of the motorola models. Any help here would be appreciated. I'm looking into asking vodafone for an upgrade, but the last time I did that, the phones they offered seemed to be 'downgrades' from the phone I had!
Cell Phones In High School? Ok at my high school they have a bullsh!t policy that says that students may not have there cell phones out at ANY Time during the day, not even at lunch!. I would say about 94% of the kids at my school have a cell phone with them at school. You see Cell Phones are not a bad thing in schools, unless if there phone rings during class, or they are texting during class. Now the only thing I use my cell phone at school for is, After School I call someone, and at lunch I go on the internet on my phone, or watch v-cast on my phone. So today at lunch I was in the gym (During Lunch the gym is used as a open gym to play or watch them play basketball) and I was on the internet on my phone reading, just keeping to my self, and then a mean @$$ teacher comes along and says, "Oh Yeah I'm gonna have to Confiscate your cell phone" and I was like "Hell no you ain't getting my cell phone, because It's my property, and I'm not doing anything bad with it and never have and never will. And then Now I'm gonna make a Student Petition to allow Cell Phones in School at Lunch, or at break, but not during class.
Cell phones have been proven to be dangerous; how young is too young for a cell phone? These days everyone from Grandmas to 10 yr olds have cell phones. (If you want to know where your 10 year old child is; well he's right where you dropped him off!! Where else would he be?) I think the cell phone craze (family packages, unlimited minutes & grade schoolers with phones) is unnecessary hype! And don't get me started on cost! And phone manners! First off; cell phones are dangerous. The cell phone makers don't want you to know that cell phones have been PROVEN to cause many cancers. http://www.rense.com/general63/FACTS.HTM Yes, you can lessen the dangers by using a handsfree device, but.... the younger (child, teenage) user is less likely to keep track of a cell phone PLUS accessories, much less use the headset consistently. Add to that how much a teenager talks on the phone & it adds up to GREAT RISK! So, what is the age when a young person has so much going on that you're willing to risk their health to know where they are at every minute of the day?? To clarify; I'm not thinking of getting a child a phone; my thoughts were mainly philosophical. I work in public service & I see many people every day with phones glued to their ear. I find it rude & irritating. Plus I handle bill payments (and pay attention to the commercials) & I've seen some numbers & I find the cost outrageous. I HAVE researched. I see that there are some studies that say NO, but I see more that say cell phones ARE LINKED TO CANCER. Here's one from less than 30 days ago... http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-wellbeing/health-news/mobile-phones-more-dangerous-than-smoking-or-asbestos-802602.html?r=RSS "more dangerous than asbestos & smoking" No responsible parent would let their child start smoking at age 8, right? http://www.lef.org/magazine/mag2007/aug2007_report_cellphone_radiation_01.htm
What phone? Tell me out of these two SLIDEY phones!? Ok. I'm looking for a phone that would fit a 12 year old and would suit me best! Here is the Motorola RIZR Z3 phone. And I think it has a better camera than the other. (this phone 2.0 megapixless) http://t-mobile.com/shop/phones/detail.aspx?tp=tb2&device=f34e6f5f-52a0-43cc-ac13-8e7329dc5da3 Now here is the other with only 1.3 megapixles Samsung t629. But I heard when you talk on the phone with samsung you can hear on it really well. http://t-mobile.com/shop/phones/detail.aspx?tp=tb2&device=bd890d2c-0286-4ade-87ba-b298c1fa73ff but the Samsung has a Phone Book and Alarm clock while the other one doesent. There are two good things about one phone then one bad thing about the other.. Weirdd
Switching phones without going through the provider? Hi everyone, let me start by saying that I am an American living in Germany. I have an LG Chocolate through T-mobile and the thing is all scratched to crap and well, let's just say I hate it. I'm not big on slider phones and that's just about all they have here. When I bought the phone, the box and all appeared to have come from the manufacturer (I'm not very electronic literate, so I could be wrong). The thing was disassembled, battery not charged, etc. Then they gave us a SIM card in an envelope to put into the phone when we got home. Long story short, I want a new phone and I got the impression that my SIM card is what links my phone to T-mobile. If this is not the case, can someone please explain it to me? Is there a way that I can just buy a new phone (maybe Ebay or something) and still keep my info, phone number and link to T-mobile without going through my provider? I am SO tired of european phones! Thanks!
Have cell phones become high tech crack? Are the cell phone companies pushing the use of cell phones like crack dealers do drugs? All the adds and the "free" phones just to get someone hooked into a contract. How can they allow younger people to run up large phone bills, then shut them off. Many young people are now in debt and have ruined their credit and find themselves in court. You see it all the time on the TV Judge shows, young foolish people get phones for their friends, relatives, boyfriends/girlfriends all of them who in the end, don't pay the bill and now the friendship is ruined. It's like the younger generation is hooked on these phones just like we were "hooked" by the cigarette companies. Remember everybody smoked in the movies, now days, everybody is using cell phones. Could there be a marketing connection? Look at the increase in auto accidents because of cell phone use while driving. We ALL pay for this bad habit in higher insurance costs. Do you think the phone companies should be held accountable for their marketing and billing practices. Why can't they just shut off the service when the bill reaches $200 and wait for payment, why let some poor sucker run it up to over a $1000.00?
Cell phones and cell phone company? Do cell phone companies like att and cingular go into the cell phones so that they can identify their phones from other carriers? I want to buy a phone from ebay, but my cell phone company Unicel, said that those phones won't work because it not from their company, even though they carry nokia brand phones.
European Phones - will they work in the USA? I'm not talking about mobile phones - I mean if you are one of those people who still has an old fashioned "land line" in your house for emergencies (where mobile phone won't work because the system is over loaded with too many people trying to make phone calls) . I saw this very cool looking cordless phone in Germany and I was wondering if I bought and hooked it up here at home to use as my land line and home answering machine - will it work? I know I would have to use an electrical converter - but what about the actual phone cord? Does the phone cord need a converter as well? I haven't been able to find anything on the internet about this. Again, this is for an old fashioned, land line. A "Home Phone" not a "Mobile Phone". Thanks in advance everyone!
Cell phones? Okay, I'm a complete loser when it comes to cell phones. Can somebody please explain to me what to do when getting one? What's a plan? Do I buy a phone from my family's company? For example, if my family uses telus, can I only get phones from telus? Which plans do you recommend? Where can I get a phone I want besides online? For example, when I get a Sony Ericcson phone, do I have to phone telus to register it or what? How do I register a phone? Or...can I just use it right away? If it makes it any easier, please explain step by step what to do when I first get a cell phone, instead of answering my stupid questions. Thanks
Cell phones--should two people use a family plan or pay as you go? My wife and I want to each get a cell phone that will be used minimally--emergencies, short questions, etc. Neither of us plan to use the phone very much at all. We're in the Washington DC area. I think I'd prefer a Verizon or Sprint-based phone because I've heard complaints of spotty coverage from some people on other networks. Considering our plan to use the phone fairly infrequently, would it be best to get two pay-as-you-go phones or a family plan (if there is one) for the two phones? If the difference in costs was not much, I'd want the two phones without paying for each minute, but I suspect that the difference in price (and the required contract) may lead me to get the pay-as-you-go phones (TracFone, Virgin Mobile, etc.). Thanks for your responses.
Where do I find a resource on how cell phones work and their components? I am looking for a book, e-book, online resource or some kind of resource material that has information on how cell phones work and each individual component (generically of course), down to what each piece on the motherboard is and does. Where can I find something anything like this? I've been to How Stuff Works, so don't mention that one. I don't want some summaries of the system and their connections to towers. I want a detailed list and diagram of components, how they are assembled and what they do. I want details and technical information.
Phones? Phones? Phones? I recently had a really crummy LG phone. It broke. I need to look into a new phone. My plan expires in like 2 years. I originally was looking into an enV, but I can't cough up that much money for a phone. I can't wait 2 more years either and I want a new phone. I'd rather have a cool phone than them to fix it. So, I am a Verizon customer and I want to know phones like enVs that are cool with their QWERTY keyboards and stuff. I'm looking into an Alias. Can someone tell me how much that would cost to get it before my plan expires? Also, any other cheap(ish) phone suggestions that are like Alias's and enV's are helpful!
New phones released summer of 2007? I am about to purchase a cell phone near the end of May. The phone I would like to be is a T-Mobile Sidekick 3. I don't know whether to buy this phone then, or wait until the middle of the summer to buy a newer phone. I need to know which phones are being released then so I know how much money to save and which phone I would want to buy. I'm looking for a phone similar to the Sidekick or maybe a Blackberry. I would also like a website where I can see pictures of the phone and other information. Thanks! :]
